OUR STORY

Building the vehicles changing the Moon and beyond, in the quest for human permanence in space.

The new space race is about permanence, not firsts. Control of the Lunar South Pole means control of the gateway to space. Lunar Outpost’s vehicles help the U.S. and its allies build the infrastructure needed for lasting presence on the Moon.

Annual lunar missions since 2025.

Starting March 2025, Lunar Outpost will launch yearly mobility missions to the Moon, providing reliable access for commercial, scientific, and government customers. These regular missions enable more frequent research, exploration, and infrastructure deployment—opening the lunar surface like never before.

Unlocking the Moon and Mars

Lunar Outpost is unlocking the Moon and Mars by building the essential mobility and infrastructure systems that will enable sustained exploration and commercialization beyond Earth. From autonomous lunar rovers to space-rated environmental stations and ISRU technologies, Lunar Outpost is laying the groundwork for off-world economies to thrive.

Our Team

Justin Cyrus

Founder | CEO

Founder and CEO of Lunar Outpost Inc, Mr. Cyrus has led his company to historic accomplishments in the field of space resources, advanced spacecraft, and robotics, including the first ever sale of lunar resources to NASA and assisting with the production of oxygen on Mars. As a technical leader, he led development of the industry-leading MAPP rover, a Mobile Autonomous Prospecting Platform that will be utilized on four upcoming missions to the Moon to provide lunar surface mobility.

Currently, Mr. Cyrus is leading his company and a world-class team including Leidos, MDA Space, Goodyear, and General Motors to develop a human-rated rover for NASA’s Artemis campaign.  Mr. Cyrus holds M.S. Degrees in Electrical Engineering and Space Resources from Colorado School of Mines, and a B.S. Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Forrest Meyen

Co-Founder | CSO

Dr. Meyen earned his doctoral degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Aeronautics and Astronautics for his contributions to the design of the Mars Oxygen ISRU Experiment (MOXIE). He continues MOXIE operations as a member of the NASA Perseverance Rover science team. Dr. Meyen’s vision is to create an economically impactful lunar society by leveraging commercial robotics and the utilization of space resources.

Forrest directs company commercialization strategy as well as technical leadership on key flight programs. He is currently leading Lunar Outpost’s team developing the MAPP Rover for their 2023 lunar exploration mission to Shackleton connecting ridge. This mission will be the first rover in history to explore at the lunar south pole region. Before Lunar Outpost, Dr. Meyen worked at Draper leading the avionics systems engineering of multiple lunar landers. He also was a program manager of Draper’s Sembler office dedicated to startup collaborations and commercialization.
